We were founded in 1989 with a straightforward ambition to make it easier for businesses to get the right packaging, at the right price, without the hassle.
In the years since, we've grown from a small team of 8 (including the 4 original owners), operating from a small unit, and one vehicle to a team of over 70 people serving customers across the UK from our 100,000 square foot facility in Stevenage as well as at our sister company Woodway in Northampton.
What hasn't changed is the way we work - At Lightning Packaging, our values shape everything - from the way we support each other as a team to the service and products we deliver to every customer.
We supply a comprehensive range of packaging materials – from corrugated cardboard cases and adhesive tapes to protective void fill, polythene packaging and printed labels to businesses of all sizes across the UK.
Alongside our product range, we offer a free Packaging and Process Review service, custom-designed packaging, inventory management and next-day delivery on stocked lines. Whether you're a manufacturer, e-commerce retailer or distributor, we have the expertise and the product range to support you.
Quality runs through everything we do – from the products we source to the service we deliver. We hold ourselves to rigorous standards, which is why we are independently certified to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety).
In practical terms, that means you can rely on consistent products, consistent service, and a team that takes both seriously – without it costing the earth, verified through rigorous quality standards, independent testing and decades of hands-on experience.
We believe good packaging doesn't have to cost the planet. 98% of the products we stock are sourced from the UK and are made from recycled or renewable materials. We work closely with customers to reduce packaging waste, right-size their packaging range, and meet their obligations under the UK's Extended Producer Responsibility regulations.
Our own operations are certified to ISO 14001, and we publish our Environmental Policy and Carbon Strategy openly on our website.
Behind every interaction with us is a team of over 70 people based at our Stevenage facility and at our sister company Woodway based in Northampton.
Within them, our account managers have over 90 years of packaging industry experience – which means the advice you get is grounded in real knowledge, not just a product catalogue.
